This secretion is lipidic and forms the outermost layer of the lacrimal film that protects the ocular surface because it avoids the evaporation. The treatment with pulsed high frequency light is a type of laser that is applied over the eyelids to improve blood circulation and activate the nerve endings of the aforementioned Meibonio glands. We get, in several sessions, to restore the thin layer of grease that lubricates and reduces the evaporation of the lacrimal film. It is also recommended to repeat the treatment as maintenance so that the dry eye patient is less dependent on applying artificial tears.
